The Story Behind the Legacy

In the late 50's and early 60's, White citizens in TN created a blacklist of African-Americans who participated in sit-ins, voter registration drives, and similar events. Those on the list were not allowed to get much needed bank loans, forcing many to take up residence in the "Freedom Village" tent city. Here we see the first baby to be born in Freedom Village.
